Of course there is always word of mouth and at the end of the day marketing for authors or any other product can be deduced to converting one person at a time.

You also have the option of setting up a syndication service like Hootsuite which is suggested as is a RSS feed.

Ultimately you want to direct people back to your author website, blog, or your preferred author page where people can buy your book!

Why You Should have Your Own Website as an Author

It is essential to have your own website / blog with your own URL.  The main reason being you are a professional.  Beyond a matter of being professional having a blog or social media profile account does not build equity for you or your company.  You are actually building equity in someone else’s company.

The point of having social media accounts for an writer is for finding and connecting with target market and then networking and finding people with similar interests and leading them to buy your book.  Do not obnoxiously promote your book – people will shun you like a sales person knocking at their front door – they will not be amused.

Other benefits of having social media accounts are advertising on them.  I personally like Facebook (look out for my youtube video coming soon).  On your website as well as any of your other blogs, and social media profiles you should have links going back and forth.  Also, don’t forget to include links to all retailers who sell your book.  You want to make it as easy as possible for people to find and buy your eBook with their preferred retailer.  Besides Amazon and Barnes and Noble their is Smashwords, Sony, Flipkart, Apple and many more.
